Embracing Uncertainty

The unknown has always fascinated mankind. Since time immemorial, it has played a key role in human culture through children’s games, gambling, and divination. The talus or astragalos bone from various animals has been used throughout history and across cultures as a vessel of uncertainty, a practice known as “casting the bones” - the origin of our modern dice games.

While the ancients sought to discern the will of the gods, we now embrace uncertainty and its fickle fortunes with different motives. Leveraging science and technology, we move beyond mere superstition, uncovering insights that guide us closer to truth, fully aware we can never reach it entirely. Despite our advances, uncertainty still taunts us, making human life even now part games, gambling, and divination. Thus, Forecasting the Bones.

I tend to think more about betting than I actually bet. The content on this site is the result of me trying to get those thoughts out of my head and down “on paper” to make more room for betting.
